My Favorite

I NEVER ever thought I would have a post like this about this particular kid, yet here I am...
Cole is by far our favorite kid. He is absolutely amazing in every way. He is completely excelling at school. We had parent/teacher conferences this week and I was floored when a teacher (not his own) came in on our conversation when she heard the name Cole and said "oh, Cole, I just love him" and I think she meant it. He is a class leader, in the highest math and reading groups, and has improved in the areas that needed improving (namely self control).
Cole is mature well beyond his years. I sometimes have to remind myself that he is only 10, yet I talk to him and treat him as an adult. He is understanding when I am frustrated and tries to help out with the little girls. His appreciation for me and his dad has come out of no where and it makes all that we do a lot more enjoyable.
He is so very determined at all he does, but most especially at sports. This has come about slowly, but this year we are really seeing his drive first and foremost. He takes everything to heart and is upset at failures even if they aren't directly his fault.
He is Brian's best friend. They are buddies of the greatest kind, sharing sports, funny stories and frustrations. I love to see the two of them giggling about some crazy commercial and enjoy watching Brian coach him and Cole actually listening to his advice and applying it.
The main reason that Cole is my favorite child isn't what he does, it is what he doesn't do... He doesn't whine, all day long about nothing. He doesn't throw a fit when he doesn't get his way. He doesn't wander off in public places, nor does he climb on to the table or kitchen counters when he wants something that doesn't belong to him. He stays in his bed all night, eats all his food. He tells me with clear words when he wants something and says please and thank you most of the time. He doesn't expect me to carry him around when he gets tired. He doesn't scream and shout when I brush his hair, or tell me no when I tell him to take a shower. I love this kid, he is by far my favorite...
