This Socks...

Back in November, when my life was completely running away from me, I stopped folding my family's socks. I didn't make a conscious decision to stop folding them, its just something that happened over the coarse of the few hundred loads I did during that time. Every load I folded, I pulled out each sock and tossed it into a basket to fold last. And then I never quite got to it... skip ahead to the next week's laundry day, I folded all the laundry tossing the socks into the same basket telling myself that I would have at least an hour of sock sorting, and I never quite got to it! By now my family is out of socks in their drawers and they are forced to search through this basket for matches. Avery comes down ready for school but has forgotten her socks, no problem, just grab some out of the basket. They have never grumbled or complained about hunting for matching socks, and I don't have to hear the whining about having to go ALL THE WAY upstairs for socks. It saves me oodles of precious time on laundry day, I can sort the socks straight out of the dryer and toss them in the basket, plus I don't have that pile of unmatched socks! It is working out so well I wish that I had come up with this plan years ago. One day I will write a blog about all of my time saving strategies in the home, but for now I just have this one tip that is working oh so well for me!!

Hey, that works for me.....just not my family! ;) Wish it would, though.

One of my laundry savers is NOT to sort! I do everything together---except those new jeans/red reds/husband's white dress shirts (no, I don't do those together either).

That's awesome! I'm usually relieved when one of the kids doesn't want to wear what I set out for him, and is downstairs in his pjs, refusing to go back up to get dressed, but look! There's a laundry basket of folded clothes in the family room! Reach in and pick out what you want - I may try the sock thing on purpose next, though!
